What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is a healthcare delivery method that utilizes technology to provide remote medical services and consultations. It allows patients to connect with healthcare professionals virtually, using video calls, phone calls, or secure messaging platforms. Through telehealth, individuals can access healthcare services from the comfort of their homes, at their school, at the park or any location with an internet connection. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly accelerated the adoption of telehealth worldwide, However, telehealth's benefits extend beyond pandemic circumstances, making it a valuable tool for enhancing healthcare accessibility and delivery in the long term.
Why Choose Telehealth?
Telehealth offers numerous benefits, including improved access to healthcare, especially for those living in rural, remote or underserviced areas. This approach also reduces travel time and expenses for patients, making healthcare more convenient and cost-effective. Overall, telehealth revolutionizes the way healthcare is delivered, making it more accessible, convenient, and efficient. It enhances patient-provider communication and expands healthcare options, ultimately improving the overall quality of care.
Rural & Remote Families
Living in a Rural or Remote Area?
Frustrated with the lack of local services?
Not sure where to turn for help?
Telehealth is for you!
We have a special interest in rural and remote health and understand the unique and complex needs of rural Australians. We will work with you, the strengths of your family and devise a therapy solution to meet your child's needs. We understand that many rural areas have a shortage of specialty services. We can work with your local providers, who may just need some extra advice on your child's specific needs.
What about hands-on Physiotherapy?
How does it work?
Don't you need to see my child face-to-face?
When delivering Physiotherapy via telehealth we learn to get creative! We can use a combination of photographs, videos, live sessions and written home programs to make telehealth work for you and your child. The level of parental involvement during the sessions will vary depending on your child's age, compliance and level of understanding. Some hands-on techniques can be modified for you to complete at home, and the best part, you can then utlizse those techniques whenever you need to! When things really need to be done in-person, we rely on multidisciplinary care to optimize your child's needs.
What is Multidisciplinary Care?
Multidisciplinary Care is when your child's therapy needs are addressed by a team of medical professionals. This could include their GP, Medical Specialists, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Psychologist or Hospital Services. Your child's unique team will vary greatly depending on their individual needs, your location, availability of other services and your personal choice.
For example; urgent physical examinations could be performed by your local Royal Flying Doctors Service, hands-on interventions such as plaster casts could be applied at your local hospital, whilst your regular Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation could be completed online via telehealth.
By working together, your child will receive the highest quality of collaborative healthcare.
